Who We Are
Deep in the heart of Texas an idea was born. An idea that creating a culture of FUN to promote democracy might just inspire Americans to vote in droves. It occurred to us that people might be inspired to register and vote if we could just get them to smile — everyone could use a smile. And thus, in 2004 VoterVirgin was born.
My name is Teresa Van Deusen and VoterVirgin is my idea. 2008 is our second national get out the vote campaign designed to seduce more participation in our lovely democracy.
The evolution of VoterVirgin has involved many important people. This has been an awe-inspiring collaboration of talent, resources, and vision, and response to the idea and the products has been overwhelmingly positive. It appears that democracy is ready for some silliness, and we are happy to fill the niche.
VoterVirgin is not a non-profit. We believe that voter registration should be a safe oasis of neutrality for people just entering the political fray.
