Consider volunteering for a local campaign. A few hours licking stamps at campaign headquarters will make you much more familiar with any candidate.

Look over the sample ballot provided by your local election officials. Take it for a test drive. Be sure you know where you are headed on the issues. Sometimes the wording can be misleading.
